Pre-Columbian, Central Coast of Peru, Chimu, ca. 1100 to 1470 CE. A sizable beaker or kero of elegant form, hand-formed from a sheet of 95% silver foil. The conical vessel extends upwards with a series of stepped tiers, each one decorated in repousse with a repeating band of steps or pyramids with stippling in-between. The rim is decorated with dozens of petite notches that create a ridged presentation, and the surfaces exhibit a pleasing luster throughout.
