The lithograph is a metal plate of an etching of a port scene with a man front and center with a scene pair of boatmen along with a pier with boats and a city behind it. The artist signature is in the bottom right hand corner and reads as follows: Whistler 1859. James Abbott McNeill Whistler RBA was an American painter in oils and watercolor, and printmaker, active during the American Gilded Age and based primarily in the United Kingdom. He eschewed sentimentality and moral allusion in painting and was a leading proponent of the credo "art for art's sake." The condition of this of this metal plate lithograph of a etching is preserved with three rips to the left side of the lithograph and some browning to the lithograph but otherwise shows preserved condition. The measurements of this plate lithograph is 6" x 7".
