Description
American. 1940s. A novelty piece that would have had a small device inside that would make a squealing sound every time a coin was inserted. Very difficult to find these in any condition. Created by Thomas Lamb, an industrial designer, to help the war effort by saving for war bonds. Embossed "....LAWSON CO", on underside around stopper. Impressed inscription, "Save for Victory, Make him Squeal", around coin slot.

Condition
Crazing on underside around opening and under feet. Retains original cardboard stopper. General wear to edges and surface. Restoration around coin slot. Visible hairline crack around seam in centre of bank.
