Waterman 72 1/2 eyedropper fill woodgrain hard rubber fountain pen. The 7X series of Waterman pens were made when their 5X lever fill pens were by far their most popular. Some purchasers wanted an eyedropper fill pen as they were used to using one and the entire barrel could be filled with ink. The 7X series differed from Waterman’s earlier eyedroppers in that it has a screwed down cap rather than the earlier slip cap. This 72 1/2 is an odd size to find in the 7X variant, especially in mottled hard rubber. American made but with a Canadian nib with crisp imprints including red grease still present on the 72 1/2 marking on the butt end of the barrel. Bandless with nickel clip and Waterman Ideal 14K fine flexible nib. Length 5 1/8” and 6 1/2” posted, filling mechanism is eyedropper fill. Overall excellent condition with some wear to the clip.
