Antique German hardcover editions of Heine?s poetry and prose bound in blue cloth with stamped and gilt lettering. This publishing house reprinted classic works of literature and poetry volumes for a fixed price and with bundled volumes like this. In 1889 the company was bought and renamed "J. G. Cottasche Buchhandlung Nachfolger" ("Successors to J. G. Cotta's Book Dealership") which is printed on the title page of this collection, publishing under this name until 1899 - so presumably this 12 volume set was published sometime in that ten year span between 1889 and 1899. Heinrich Heine (1797?1856) was a German poet, writer, and literary critic, best known for his lyrical poetry and satirical prose. Size: 6" L x 4.5" W (15.2 cm x 11.4 cm)
