A German Silver-Mounted Hunting Sword Mid-18th Century With tapering blade (old wear and rust patination) double-edged at the point and fullered along the back on each side, the forte on one side etched with a rubbed German inscription, a leaping stag above, and on the other with traces of an etched panel, a boar above, parcel-gilt hilt comprising downbent shell-guard, upscrolled rear quillon and downbent fore-quillon, the latter with boar's head terminal, pommel-cap with a human-mask and rococo shells, and fishskin-covered grip with reeded silver strap along the back, in its wood-lined browned leather scabbard with silver locket, chape and suspension hook 58.5 cm. blade This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: * * VAT on imported items at a preferential rate of 5% on Hammer Price and the prevailing rate on Buyer's Premium.
