Dated 14 April (1966), Thompson opens the letter in typical fashion: “Okay, nothing fat to say here but things seem to be breaking. My Quick Raid on NY# turned into a 2-week battle of wills, desperation and LSD.“ He goes on to write of monetary issues and various plans. He closes with, “Just heard on the radio that the Angels got busted for a riot with cops in south SF. Wild drunk now, but I think I‘ll go out and check -- looking for publicity and maybe even a wild arrest. Sell, sell, etc. Nothing happens until somebody sells something.“ He signs of with a typed HST circled in orange pen. His penned notes in the top margin read, “The Dylan ‘stone you‘ record just came on - 5:55 AM - the beach-head seems to be holding -“ A wonderful unpublished letter from Thompson. Great content, with references to Bob Dylan, LSD, as well as an event with the Hells Angels from a documented event on the night of the funeral for member “Mother Miles.“
