"A Company of Boys in Blue: The Civil War through the Eyes of a Soldier" by Pvt. Thomas Jefferson Orr and Mark E Paul, privately published by Mark E. Paul, Williamsburg, Virginia, 2009. The publication was supported by the Wheeling National Heritage Area Corporation. First Edition.
Soft cover, large format: 8.1/2" x 11"; 222 pages, illustrated, very good condition.
This book was begun by Private Thomas J Orr of the 12th Virginia Infantry (which later became the 12th West Virginia) in 1862 and was completed by his great-great grandson, Mark E Paul, in 2009.
This book is a compilation of letters, post-war remembrances, and the 1863 diary of the author's great-great grandfather with explanatory text, footnotes, maps, and photographs. The story tracks the 12th Virginia (later the 12th West Virginia) from their 1862 enlistment through the surrender at Appomattox Court House.
