Vintage and in great condition, this is a 1974 United Artists label award (i.e. non-RIAA) recognizing success of the Paul Anka track "(You're) Having My Baby". A duet that Anka recorded with female vocalist Odia Coates, it became his first #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 since his 1959 chart topper "Lonely Boy". Anka reportedly wrote the lyrics for his wife and four daughters while in Lake Tahoe. The song has also been covered by Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Glenn Danzig, and Michael Jackson.

It is presented to well-known radio personality and executive Scott Shannon from WMAK radio in Nashville. Shannon later was on-air at Z100 New York and many other stations around the U.S. A letter of provenance from Shannon will be provided with purchase as seen in images.

This award is in VG condition, despite its nearly 50-year age. Although it has the usual nicks and mars on the frame (nothing major) it was obviously well kept over the years, resulting in very little fading of the label and no tarnishing of the gold record. It still has its' Dejay Products Inc. manufacturer label and is one of the earliest type of awards made by that company, which later become an official RIAA award maker.

Notes on the condition of all vintage record awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
