This 1970s album award celebrates Three Dog Night album Around The World With Three Dog Night, which was released on Feb. 13, 1973. This is a label "gold" award presumed to celebrate the album selling over $1 million worth, the RIAA's measure of "gold" in those days. While this is not an RIAA award, the organization did certify this album as Gold shortly after its' release on March 6, 1973.

The double live album contained many of the group's hits including "Joy to the World" "Mama Told Me (Not to Come)", "An Old Fashioned Love Song". The album topped out at #18 on the Billboard Top LPs chart and also charted at #21 Canada and #9 in Japan.

The award is all original with the Disc Award Ltd. dragon logo engraved on the gold disc, black felt matte, correct Dunhill ABC Records label and wood back. It is in Good to VG condition considering its age with mars on the frame.

Notes on the condition of all vintage record awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home.
