Description
According to Colt Archives Serial Number Database, this Detective Special was produced in 1972 (first block production - "Third Issue"). SPECS: Nickel plated finish, 2" barrel with shrouded extractor rod, fixed groove rear sight, ramped front sight, checkered flat butt walnut grips, serrated spur hammer and six-shot swing-out cylinder. COMES WITH: Bianchi #56 black leather hip holster. CONDITION: This gun is in beautiful condition with no wear to speak of, has a nice sharp/ clean bore and appears to be in good working order. HISTORY: Introduced in 1927, the Detective Special was the first short-barreled "Snubnose" revolver produced with a modern swing-out frame. Although the Detective Special was a huge success for Colt during its many years of production, it was finally removed from the product line in 1995. The Detective Special was modified a number of times over the period of production. Major changes are signified by collectors as "Issues". The guns made from 1927 to 1946 are known as the First Issue series, 1947 - 1972 Second Issue series, 1973 - 1986 Third Issue Series and 1993 - 1995 Fourth Issue series.
