Description
A wonderful and scarce collection of Native silver brooches. Bottom to top left: 6 1/2" Woodlands German silver brooch with clasp and a scalloped perimeter, a 4" pierced round brooch with clasp, a 3" Delaware open concha used as hair or clothing ornament, a 2 1/2" pierced silver star brooch with clasp and cartouche: CA for Charles Arnoldi of Montreal (1779 - 1817), a 1 1/2" Iroquois silver star brooch. Lower right: a 2 1/2" Creek ear wheel of Council Fire design with 8 spokes, excavated in Checotah, Oklahoma, a 2 1/2" rocker engraved silver brooch with clasp and cartouche CA, three (3) Seminole pierced necklace pendants, 1 1/4" each. A 1 3/4" coin silver ear wheel. Pictured: Bridles of the Americas Vol.1 by Ned & Jody Martin and Robert Bauver, page 48, figure 3.7.
