Description
Cal. 38 Spl. S# 156-88929. Bbl. 4" ribbed with serrated blade and no "warning marks"; frame notched rear sight. Mfg. 1980 as Model SS84L with L designating its lanyard loop within serial number allowing "156" at the front half of its round butt and "88929" at the rear half (no "-" used). Right front of cylinder frame stamped "U.S." before being blued; standard checkered walnut service grips with all silver eagle medallions on round butt grip frame. August 1978 issue of American Rifleman magazine stated that 6,500 with lanyard loops were procured for Army Armament Material Development and Readiness Command. Likely sold via Ruger benefit auction as Ruger website states shipped 1995 as Model 01552 and that caliber is "38 SP". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: near excellent unmarked yellow and black Ruger 1 piece box. Shipping sleeve with ink pen change of serial number on label; 88929 over 82360. Top corner of sleeve has military drawing number etc. in red ink plus serial number in pen with over write by black marker. Technical Manual dated 8/80; printed by Ruger and intended for US Military use. CONDITION: all aspects are near excellent appearing new and unfired. (23-6586/NW). MODERN. $500-750.
