Description
Cal. 16ga (.64), S# 131. These scarce Civil War era longarms are seen in a variety a configurations, this example is 39.5" overall, 21.5" octagonal to round barrel with large brass bead front sight. Breechblock stamped "A.D. PERRY / PATENTED" & "PERRY PATENT ARM CO / NEWARK, N.J. / 1855". Matching serial numbers are found on top of barrel and frame. Buttplate has spring loaded latch that releases 14" iron tipped brass percussion cap tube. Forestock has pewter nosecap, and single key with German silver escutcheons to attach to barrel. CONDITION: good to very good overall, metal is overall mottled gray with traces of brown finish on barrel in protected areas, breech markings are discernible but light. Stocks retain about half their varnish and well fit. Added Navy markings are stamped on various parts along with a newly applied cartouche. Mechanically functional, good smooth bore.
