Cyrano de Bergerac is a classic. Cyrano, a man of quick wit and swordsmanship but overlarge nose, and therefore, with a nagging inferiority complex, has long been in love with his cousin Roxane but too afraid to tell her. When he learns of Roxane's interest in Christian, a young man in Cyrano’s military group, he finds himself penning letters to Roxane on Christian’s behalf, watching the two fall in love and seeing what he could have had himself...
Books Inc. was established in 1938 by Lewis Mulford Adams, who was earlier president of the printer J. J. Little & Ives Company (1916-1931), established the Kingsport (Tennessee) Press (1923) and Colonial Press, Inc. (1931). Books, Inc. was a purveyor of copyright-free hardcover reprint books from the late 1930s onward.
Edmond Eugene Alexis Rostand [1868-1918] was a French poet and dramatist. He is associated with neo-romanticism and is known best for his 1897 play "Cyrano de Bergerac". Rostand's romantic plays contrasted with the naturalistic theatre popular during the late nineteenth century.
