Description

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche to Chimu culture, ca. 600 to 1300 CE. An exceptional beautiful fine worked necklace or headband made from woven textile with nacre shell appliques carved into flowers, inlaid with turquoise and orange spondylus beads threaded through the top. The band is mounted in a modern Riker case. Size of headband: 14.75" L x 1" W (37.5 cm x 2.5 cm); Riker case: 16.25" L x 12.25" W (41.3 cm x 31.1 cm)

Provenance: private Hawaii, USA collection, acquired from 2000 to 2010
