Description
East Asia, China, late Ming Dynasty, ca. 17th century CE. A set of 4 pottery bowls. The first features impressively thin walls that rise upward and gently flare outwards to a wide, annular rim above a deep basin, all sitting atop a ring-form foot. A lovely white glaze envelops the entirety of the vessel, while the interior basin boasts blue-on-white decoration of a central tondo containing an abstract vegetal or avian motif. The 3 bowls are covered in light green glaze and have relatively utilitarian forms. Size of largest: 8.1" Diameter x 3.8" H (20.6 cm x 9.7 cm)
