From the collection of Captain William Angus McCleery, United States Navy, consisting of a Japanese officers battle worn katana Gunto sword, silk tag bearing the name Matsu from Oita Perfecture, Naoiri, presented to McCleery during the 1945 surrender of Japan during WWII, along with USS commissioning pennant flag flown aboard the ship that day, accompanied by a silk Japanese flag timestamped with departure and destinations of McCleery's tour. The lot also includes another Japanese Mumei katana from consignor spouse's father, which was also recieved while in military service in Japan; swords 36" and 37" length; Provenance: estate of Cpt William Angus McCleery, current owner by descent
