Description
Made by the Doll & Compagnie. Germany - Late 1910's - 16" Tall. This ferris wheel includes fewer of the deluxe "bells & whistles" of the previous lot. Nevertheless, it remains a strong illustration of Doll's approach to ferris wheel design. In this case, the gondolas are suspended directly from the ride's crossbars, without the added support of the ride's circular frame. Once again, we find two-seat gondolas rather than single seat chairs. Here, they are more fashioned from shaped tin and simply ornamented with a stencil.
