Description
Pre-Columbian, North Coast of Peru, Inca Empire, ca. 1300 to 1500 CE. A broad and colorful textile comprised of tightly-woven camelid fibers - either alpaca or llama - that are dyed in hues of red, green, brown, pink, and orange. The composition is constructed from 2 identical panels that are sewn together in the middle, perhaps 2 lengths of the same textile used to make a wearable garment at one time. Size: 31" L x 36" W (78.7 cm x 91.4 cm)

Provenance: private southern California, USA collection, acquired before 2000

Condition
A few holes within interior fibers, with fraying and small losses along periphery, otherwise in nice condition. Great retention of dyed colors by most fibers.
