Lawnbrook - Residence of Dr D..Guernsey Amenia Duchess Co. NY

Rare. Lawnbrook is a 35-acre estate in Dutchess County, New York that was once owned by Dr. David Guernsey Ameni. Ameni was a wealthy physician who made his fortune in the pharmaceutical industry. He built Lawnbrook in 1900 as a summer home for his family.

The mansion is a Tudor Revival-style building with 25 rooms. It is surrounded by gardens, woodlands, and a lake. The estate also includes a carriage house, a greenhouse, and a swimming pool.

Ameni and his family lived at Lawnbrook for many years. They hosted lavish parties and entertained many guests, including President Theodore Roosevelt. After Ameni's death in 1920, the estate was sold to a number of different owners.

In 1989, Lawnbrook was purchased by the Ameni Foundation. The foundation has since restored the mansion and gardens and opened them to the public for tours. Lawnbrook is now a popular tourist destination and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
