c. 1820 (War of 1812), Historical Blue Staffordshire, Commodore "MacDonnough's Victory" June 1814 Naval Battle of Lake Champlain, Decorative Commemorative Teapot with Lid, Extremely Fine.
A lovely Blue Staffordshire Teapot with its original helmet style top, produced for sale to the American market commemorating MacDonough's Victory of Lake Champlain, measuring 5.5" wide x 12" long x 8.5" high with its lid, with several minor chips to inner rim of lid rest that are not visible when its lid is on for display. In June 1814, Great Britain again threatened to invade the United States from Canada, this time from Lake Champlain. Commodore Thomas MacDonough commanded the fleet on that lake and defeated the British naval enemy near Plattsburgh, New York. Printed on each side, "Commodore MacDonough's / Victory." The transfer image shows two men watching two Warships fighting, with five smaller Sloops in the background. The bottom is stamped "T".
