Description
Ahuayo, Province of Ingavi, Dept of La Paz., 19th C. Woman's heirloom ritual mantle in the rectangular Ingavi form which mimics their mantilla head cloths. Note the extensive use of Lake Titicaca conceptual symbols in the design, the rich red cochinilla pampa color, and the simple single color blue ribete edging. Size: 3'7'' x 2'9'' (109 x 84 cm).
