Description: Santa Clara Pueblo wedding vase by matriarch pottter Sara Fina Tafoya (1863-1947), mother of famed potter Margaret Tafoya. Compelling large example of her work. This piece is a dead ringer or possibly the same piece that wikipedia uses as a prime example of her work with fluted bumpy shoulder and and corn cob polished base. This is an earlier example of her work and could date as early as the 1880s and and no later than 1900. Excellent condition with a very fine line at one spout.
