A wonderfully painted, highly carved decoy of a male Shoveler Duck. The duck has a turned head, carved feather details on its bill and especially its tail and back and a superb paint job. Most likely a decorative (no evidence it has been hunted over), it has painted eyes and a flat bottom (no indication there was a weight attached). It measures about 15 ½” from breast to tail and 6 ½” high at the head; the body is about 5” wide. The bird weighs just over 2 pounds.
