These Purinton Pottery Slip Ware Brown Intaglio Grand Mugs are in near MINT condition. They look as if they were never used. They measure 5" tall and 3" in diameter at the mouth of the mug. NO chips, cracks, crazing or other problems. They will make a great mug for any type of drink. a little history: Purinton Pottery Company was incorporated in Wellsville, Ohio, in 1936. The company moved to Shippenville, Pennsylvania, in 1941 and made a variety of hand-painted ceramic wares. By the 1950s Purinton was making dinnerware, souvenirs, cookie jars, and florist wares. One of Purinton Pottery Company's most famous pieces is the Howdy Doody cookie jar. The pottery closed in 1959.
