Contacts available post auction.1943 Link Trainer ANT-18 Flight SimulatorThis is an exceptional 1943 Link Trainer ANT-18, the legendary "Blue Box" that served as the backbone of Allied instrument flight training. Manufactured by Link Aviation Devices, Inc. in Binghamton, NY, this unit is a true mechanical marvel, utilizing a complex system of pneumatic bellows and vacuum turbines to simulate pitch, roll, and yaw. This specific mid-war example features the era-appropriate blue fuselage and yellow wings with the classic "Star and Meatball" Army Air Corps insignia. Inside, it retains its original flight controls and a robust set of instruments from Pioneer and Kollsman, including the altimeter and turn-and-bank indicator. The base unit is notably complete, housing the original electronic oscillator boxes for radio signal simulation. The physical condition is impressive for a functional training relic; the exterior paint remains vibrant with minor scuffs, while the interior shows honest wear, particularly on the leather seat and floorboards. One instrument dial is missing its glass, but the internal mechanical "logic" assembly appears remarkably undisturbed. H 87", L 108", W 10”. Please see photos.
