Three-Piece American Rococo Revival Mahogany Bed Set
mid-19th century, attributed to the warerooms of Prudent Mallard, New Orleans, consisting of a bedstead with tall headboard posts joined by an arched headboard, h. 84", inside w. 62", l. 76", outside w. 70", l. 84", a marble-top dresser with a tilting mirror, h. 87", w. 45", d. 22", and a double-door armoire, h. 102", w. 66-1/2", d. 23-1/2".
Provenance: Descended through the family of Jules Mazerat and Bertha Nautre, New Orleans, to the present owner. Jules Mazerat was elected as a member of the New Orleans Cotton Exchange in 1871. He served as chairman of the finance committee and member of the board of directors for eleven years. He also served as director of the Bank of New Orleans from 1904-1915.
