ABOUT THE ARTIST: Malysh Gavriil Kindratovych – was born on March 25, 1907, in the village of Kytaihorodka near Dnipro city in Ukraine. In 1934, he graduated from the Odessa Art Institute. Teachers: O. Gaush and T. Fryerman. Since 1935 lived and worked in Leningrad. Since 1954 participated in exhibitions, exhibiting his works together with the works of the leading masters of the fine arts of Leningrad. In 1955 he was accepted as a member of the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists, in the period 1952-1957 he was expelled "for formalism". He painted landscapes, still lifes, and genre compositions. He worked in watercolor, oil painting, and pastel techniques. Recognized watercolor master. The artist died on October 25, 1998, in St. Petersburg.
