
Federal Mahogany and Wavy Birch Inlaid Card Table probably Salem, Massachusetts, c. 1800 Fine single-board mahogany top and leaf opening to form square surface with serpentine edges and quirked ovolo corners, resting on a fly leg box-joined to fixed apron rails joined to top with pocket screws and dovetailed to the sides of a conforming apron, constructed of single carved blocks veneered with panels of wavy birch surrounded by checkered crossbanding, the bottom and leaf edges inlaid with continuous diamond-and-dart-pattern borders, closed, 88cm wide, 45cm deep, 73cm high (35 3/4in wide, 18in deep, 29 1/2in high).
