Cal. 41, 3" bbl., NSN. This very interesting lot is contained in a small early brass tack decorated hide covered trunk with a cross on the top. The trunk contains 4 wooden stakes in a leather 4 pocket sheath. There is also a large black crucifix on a black beaded chain, a small bible with elaborately decorated covers, a large folding knife withdecorated bone handles, a silver cross with beaded chain and metal holy water bottle. and a large bottle nearly full of silver nitrate sealed with wax and engraved on the side "SILVER NITRATE". The trunk further contains a double barrel inline percussion pistol of .41 caliber with 3" barrels. The side plate, barrel tang, and trigger guard all have similar engraved motifs. The wooden butt is carved with a fish scale motif. Accompanying the pistol is a small powder horn with a cross carved into the side and a small pewter lidded box containing 6 round balls and caps. CONDITION: all items show expected wear with no notable damage. The pistol has an overall dark worn blued patina with light wear to the grip. Both hammers hold both full and half-cock.
