About the sculptor: Pierre - Jules Mene was born in Paris in 1810 and studied at the National School of Fine Arts. After graduation, he was invited as a sculptor to the Sevres manufactory. Mene's works have been repeatedly awarded high awards and prizes at the Paris Salon, as well as at the World Exhibitions in London.
