
Description
Agate Dzi Bead with Nine Eyes, 5.3cm in length, 1.3cm in diameter and 17g in weight. Produced by a workshop in the Xizang region or Persia in West Asia in the Tang Dynasty, it was an amulet worn by high monks of Tibetan Buddhism. Natural banded agate with "nine eyes" decorative patterns formed by the etching process, with cinnabar patina visible on the surface. Adopting the "etching and flower carving" process, the nine-eye pattern is painted on the surface of the agate with clear eye patterns and a thick patina, having the typical characteristic of pure dzi beads from the Tang Dynasty. Tang Dynasty (618-907). Nine-eye dzi beads are the top sacred objects of Tibetan Buddhism, implying "nine levels of merit and virtue". This piece has a patina and decorative patterns consistent with the characteristics of the Tang Dynasty, extremely rare in existence, with a market valuation of up to ten million yuan level.
