Description
Real photo postcard depicting a horse drawn parade float of women and young girls with the pronounced banner - 'Purity Cleanliness'. I believe this is a reference to the Social Purity Movement, a women's led movement to combat societies ills - mostly regarding sex. But when I took a closer look at the banner the words 'Model Steam Laundry' appear but much lighter. Could this be a advertising gimmick? It is written on the card ' July 4th, 15, Marinette, Wis.' Card is in good shape with a slight corner crease - please see the images. Dated 1915.
