The antique color lithograph The Collegiate Church of Sainte-Walburge characterizes Oudenaarde, with it’s 88-meter-high tower. The lithograph is in Excellent Condition. It has been professionally matted and framed. The matt accents the picture exquisitely. It measures 12 ½” x 10 ½”. What's remarkable is that the monument is made up of two different architectural styles. The early Gothic choir, built from Tournai limestone, dates from the 12th century. The rest of the lower church is a fine example of 15th-century Brabant Gothic. You can also read its rich history in the magnificent stained-glass windows. The church was restored in 2019. The church is the proud owners of the oldest known carillon in the world? The faithful know: every Sunday afternoon, the town's carillonneur, Lode Schynkel, gives his best on the tower of St. Walburga's Church during an hour-long concert.
