Description of this plate in the 1981 guide, Pairpoint's First Fifty Plates reads: This cup plate was made to commemorate the centennial of the church in 1977. St. Cloud Presbyterian Church is a small copy of an old Welsh Church. Dr. William Adams Brown, President of Union Theological Seminary at the time, decided that such an edifice was needed on the mountain top. General George B. McClelland of the Civil War was also a charter member of the church. The name was taken from Saint Cleu, a suburb of Paris. The cup plates were commissioned by the Women's Board. On a window sill, these cup plates capture the sun beautifully, further accentuating the intricate designs & color. Condition: Excellent condition, no chips or cracks.
