Canadian. Wood. A pine wall box from Waterloo County with a pierced tapered backboard and the front panel having a carved applied bird at the centre flanked by two applied leaves. The front panel is arched and has partially drilled holes along the top edge to match the backboard motifs. Illustrated in "The Heritage of Upper Canadian Furniture" by Howard Pain, plate 1224, page 467. Refinished, C. 1890. 13.5" x 7.75" x 4". From the late Howard Pain Collection. Canadian.
