Description

The limited-edition sculpture, number 204 of 2500, depicts a mermaid seated astride a large, intricately detailed seahorse. The figure is executed in glazed porcelain using the characteristic soft, pastel Lladro palette. The mermaid features a blue scaled tail and a small gold-tone chain draped across the seahorse's head. The composition rests on a marine-themed base of coral and seaweed. The lot includes the Lladro porcelain figurine and its original storage box. The base is signed with the manufacturer's marks: LLADRO, Hand Made in Spain, D.A.I.S.A. 1997. Further inscriptions indicate the piece was sculpted by F. Polope and decorated by P. Perez.
