Art Nouveau Amethyst Ruby Diamond 18 karat Yellow Gold Bee Brooch
A French Art Nouveau Bee pin brooch clip made in 18 karat gold and featuring colored gemstones and diamond. This piece is one of the purest examples of Art Nouveau flights of fancy. The sinuous lines of the glossy amethyst body are captivating. Note a hidden secret of the piece, a skillfully carved belly. The open-work gold wings, made with precision, accented with cabochon ruby. Diamonds nicely decorating the “face” of this beautiful creature complete the composition. This gold brooch is a miniature artwork you can wear to elevate your look and instantly add a lot of artistic charm to your style.
This exquisite Art Nouveau brooch is made of 18 karat yellow gold, carved amethyst, oval cabochon ruby and round brilliant cut and rose cut diamonds. The amethyst measures 45 x 23 x 10 mm, the rubies measure 7.5 x 6 mm, total weight approximately 3 carats, the diamonds are H-I color, VS clarity, total weight approximately 0.30 carat. This fabulous bee clip measures 2 5/8" x 2 ¼” (6.7 x 5.5 cm) long and weighs 35.9 grams.

About the Brand:
Art Nouveau jewelry is rooted in the Arts and Crafts Movement that implemented art in each aspect of the daily life. During late 1800s, that movement, together with the Japonisme, influenced many artists and inspired them to create gorgeous and very special Art Nouveau jewelry pieces. To grasp the essence of Art Nouveau, take a look at the curvy lines of the Paris metro entrances or the artwork of Lalique. In visual art such names as Gustav Klimt and Toulouse-Lautrec greatly represent the movement. Same flowing, moving lines and natural forms are the staples of the jewelry in Art Nouveau style. Pieces acquire mystical, mellow, and softened appearance. The shapes often have a very well pronounced decorative aspect that supports the artistic approach to the jewelry making. To compose the objects of nature and make it look original, makers had to be highly skilled. That’s why the Art Nouveau jewels are so meticulously made. Enamel work of that time is still considered as the all-time finest. It’s hard to overcome the enamel technique that was able to recreate a translucent effect of an insect wing or flower petal.
