Beautiful red cinnabar carved Chinese Republic period box. Deeply carved to pass through thick red to a black core laver and pattern carved Chinese frett grid. The center lid design is a bound basket of peonies and other flowers with flying ribbons. The box sides feature deep cur cartouches of floral scrolls with endcap cuts. The interior is black enamel on top and bottom. The box bottom is flat with no markings. Measurements are 5.25" by 5.25" and 2" deep.
