
Description
An exquisite rare First and Only Edition period full-color print of painting "Thorah-Shrine at Safed Synagogue" by Israel artist Arieh Lubin. Comes from a rare art folio printed in Switzerland in 1953. Printed on one side. Hand tipped-in on a board of heavy paper. Information regarding the original artwork in Hebrew, English and French will be found by lifting the piece. Excellent condition - light tanning on the board, never framed.

Arieh Lubin was born in 1897. His parents immigrated from Russia to America in their youth. He came to Palestine in 1913 to study in Herzlia Gymnasium in Tel Aviv, but returned to America 6 months later. After completing high school he entered the Art Academy of the Chicago Museum. When young Jews were called to join the Jewish Legion in 1918, he volunteered for the Palestine front. Here he was enchanted by the exotic landscapes, but didn't know how to paint or record them on canvas or paper sheet. Later her returned to America and to the Chicago Art Academy where he devoted himself with renewed enthusiasm to his work and particularly to drawing. After completing his studies he traveled to Western Europe and spent some time in Paris, observing the developments of modern art, where he was influenced by ancient Egyptian sculpture, by Cezanne, Dufy and Picasso. in 1924 he returned to Eretz Israel, but time to time visited Italy and France.
