Stunning small Meiji Era Japanese 6-Panel Gold Leaf Byobu Screen depicting a landscape scene with pine trees and people. Kano school tradition. Gouache, watercolor and ink over paper, gold pigment. Silk border. Wood frame with beautifully engraved metal corners, medallions and plaques on the left and right sides of the frame. Paper on back. Masterfully painted. Detailed and delicate. Very good condition for age - minor age wear overall, after professional restoration (on hinges with gold paper and touch-ups on black and blue), 3 dents on paper back, clean, strong hinges. Japan, Meiji to Taisho Era, circa 1900-1920s.
