First, though, we learn about Abraham's "other wife" Keturah. Scholars are divided about whether Abraham married Keturah before or after Sarah's death.

focuses on the Lord reassuring Isaac. God states that His relationship with Abraham, and its blessings, are for Isaac, as well. God appears to Isaac not once, but twice in this chapter. In both cases, the Lord restates and emphasizes the covenant promises He had made to Abraham, and is now making to Isaac.

God blesses us for our good works, but rather that despite our evil works, God continues to be faithful and lavishes his blessings upon the church solely by his grace.

Now Jacob arrives and falls in love with his uncle's daughter Rachel. After working seven years to marry her, Jacob is tricked by his uncle into marrying the older daughter, Leah, instead. Laban allows Jacob to marry Rachel, as well, in exchange for another seven years' work.

The grace can overcome sin. This is the theme of Genesis 30. Jacob and his family were chosen to be God's means of blessing a cursed world. But Jacob and those around him were a dreadfully sinful people.
