  • Description: Cubist Figure with Skull 1946 ;Pastels on paper 30 × 21 cm. Signed on the front; dated and dedicated “1946 – pour Rasiè” on the reverse. Frame not included. The work relates to a subject developed and revisited multiple times by Picasso in the post-war period: the fragmented figure incorporating the motif of the skull, a central and recurring theme in his works on paper from the 1940s and 1950s, which the artist frequently varied, reworked, and deliberately re-created in numerous autonomous versions.The mature Cubist language, the construction of planes, the treatment of the face, and the gestural handling of the pastel show close affinities with known and catalogued works from the same period.A work of strong visual presence, intellectually refined and of notable collector interest, ideally suited for twentieth-century modern art collections or thematic focuses on the figure and iconographic metamorphosis in Picasso.
