19th century Japanese scroll painting in ink and colors on paper depicting three blind traveling musicians crossing a marshy ground. Two of them are carrying biwa (Japanese lute) wrapped in cloth, the singer is probing ground with his cane. Beautifully painted, their robes are treated in angular ink strokes, very subtle use of color. Painted after Hanabusa Itcho (1652 – 1724) - a famous Osaka painter, calligrapher and haiku poet, his signature and seal appearing on the painting. Painting size 13 x 23 inches, scroll size 47 x 27 inches.
