Rare porcelain netsuke of a crouching shishi, its mouth open in a snarl. Made by Armin Muller (American, 1932-2000), the artist is listed in “Netsuke: The H.I.H. Prince Takamado Collection II”, p. 250). Superbly modeled, wonderfully realistic, finely sculpted curls and facial features including teeth and fangs, beautiful light celadon glaze pooling in recessed areas giving extra depth to the surface. Incised monogram of the artist on the bottom. Excellent sculpture in superb condition. Length 1.88 inches.
