Original 1894 Japanese woodblock print triptych THE BATTLE OF ASAN by Toyohara Chikanobu (1838–1912) from his “Victory at Asan" series of sensō-e (war prints). It depicts the First Sino-Japanese War, specifically celebrating the Japanese victory over Chinese forces at Asan, Korea, on July 29, 1894, portraying Japanese soldiers in modern uniforms triumphing over archaic-dressed Chinese troops. Nice bright colors, sheets are attached together, some expected wear. Total size 14 x 27 3/8 inches (35.3 x 70 cm).
