Description
Silvered bronze, 2 3/8" inside dimension with well modeled serpent (snake) head with tail opposite. The head is particularly well modeled with rows of dots representing the scales and a collar behind. D section with the inside flat and tapering to the well-delineated tail. The serpent has multiple meanings in Viking mythology. Jormungandr was the World Serpent who circled the world biting his own tail. As well, they believed in sea serpents which added to the perils of sailing unknown waters. This bracelet would have been worn by a man or woman to protect against these mythical serpents. The surface textured from burial. Professionally refurbished with the silver surface restored. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
