Description
Mi Fu’s Impromptu Poems Calligraphy Horizontal Scroll, painting core length 150 cm, width 56 cm. Traditionally attributed to the cursive script work of Mi Fu in the Northern Song Dynasty, this is a Song Dynasty copy ("Song copy"), passed down by successive imperial courts. Ink on paper, mounted as a horizontal scroll. The copy follows Mi Fu’s brush-stroke cursive style with free and unrestrained brushwork, and is inscribed with appraisal and collection seals of successive dynasties at the end, a Song copy that is "second only to the original work". The original work was created in the Northern Song Dynasty (11th century), and this copy was made in the Song Dynasty (12th century). Mi Fu’s authentic works are rare in existence; Song copies are core physical objects for the study of his calligraphy. This Impromptu Poems scroll has a clear transmission history, integrating artistic and documentary values, and is a top treasure in ancient calligraphy collection.
