Rare mid-century checkers set designed by American op artist Richard Anuszkiewicz
Manufactured by Danish design company Georg Jensen in 1969 as part of their "Art for Everyday Living" series, and showcased in their Nov/Dec issue (see photo)
This limited edition series was commissioned by Art in America magazine in an effort to give a wider audience to the prominent contemporary artists of the time via new mediums
The set's colorful mid-century design is keeping with the Anuszkiewicz's infamous utilization of geometric shapes and high-intensity colors to create optical illusions
Board measures 16" squared, and 1/5" height; each piece is 1 1/2" squared and 1/4" height
The set is in very good vintage condition, signs of wear include one small mark to one of the pieces (see photo); comes with original plastic protector case and box base (no original top)
